Below are the top 20 freedom and liberty-minded websites by page rank and personal opinion. Please support these organizations with time, donations, and word-of-mouth advertising as they are making a huge difference in taking back our government and nation.
- http://www.lp.org/ – Love them or hate them, this is the political party for us Libertarians. Personally, I feel they could be much more effective if they picked better candidates more acceptable to the mainstream.
- http://www.cato.org/ – The Libertarian and small government think tank. Widely respected and read. A must review and link.
- http://www.mises.org/ – A personal favorite of mine. The source for classical liberal economic and social research and commentary.
- http://www.acton.org/ – Liberty through the Judeo-Christian lens. Great research into the history of individual freedoms throughout the world.
- http://www.openmarket.org/ – Offshoot of the Competitive Enterprise Institute (http://www.cei.org/). Good lobby with influence on the national scene. Several insightful commentary and links to liberty-minded news.
- http://www.reason.com/ – Why subscribe to the print magazine when you can find it online?
- http://www.lewrockwell.com/ – The website of noted Libertarian Lew Rockwell, it’s a good collection of recent libertarian headlines and spot-on commentary worthy of sharing.
- http://www.drudgereport.com/ – Not exactly libertarian but Matt Drudge does get the truth out to the masses. This is a daily read for those keeping up with the times.
- http://www.ij.org/ – Institute for Justice. I love what this public interest law firm does—fights senseless licensing requirements and public taking of private property. Great stories and cases.
- http://www.foundingfathers.info/ – Most of the founding fathers were libertarian to the bone. Links to the documents our country was founded on plus some great quotes and memorabilia.
- http://www.adamsmith.org/ – The Brits want liberty to and this site proves it. Named after free market’s economist Adam Smith, this site takes on an economic slant.
- http://www.heritage.org/ – independent think tank but a bit slanted toward anti-Democratic party ideals. Good factsheets and reports under their research tab.
- http://www.getliberty.org/ – Americans for Limited Government. This site is more in-tune with what’s happening on the Hill between Republicans and Democrats, but the focus is on growth of government.
- http://www.cagw.org/ – Citizens Against Government Waste. These guys just frustrate me…great site but I could throw this laptop through the window with their stories about how our government throws away our tax dollars.
- http://www.aei.org/ – American Enterprise Institute for Public Policy. Much like The Cato Institute, this political thinktank is more Republican than Libertarian but has a treasure trove of good info.
- http://www.wethepeoplefoundation.org/ – Catchy website dedicated to getting Americans familiar with the Constitution and its principles.
- http://www.independent.org/ – The Independent Institute. Good blog with straight-forward commentary.
- http://www.aynrand.org/ – I admire Ayn Rand, her writings and ideas. It’s amazing that her book is still setting records for readership.
- http://www.strike-the-root.com/ – Slanted toward anarchism, good news feed, I like the approach!
- http://www.humblelibertarian.com/ – Lots of ads but has a top 100 list of Libertarian sites and blogs. I personally think mine’s better.
